One of the most common problems we women face is unwanted facial and body hair growth. Some of the common methods for unwanted hair removal at home are waxing, threading, using hair removal creams also called as depilatory creams and epilators. But these methods are temporary and hair starts growing within a few days again. So people who are looking for a permanent solution opt for laser hair removal. If you are planning to remove unwanted hair using laser get to know the benefits and side effects before doing it. Laser hair removal is the process of destruction of hair follicles using laser light and the results are usually permanent. How Do Lasers Work? Lasers works by a process called selective photothermolysis (SPTL), it targets only dark matter (melanin) which gives hair the dark color. When laser enters our body, it heats up only the basal stem cells that contain the dark pigment matter and it does not affect the rest of our skin. It can be used to remove unwanted hair from all parts of the body like face, bikini area, back, under arms, chin, upper lip, etc. Types Of Laser: 1. Ruby Laser: Ruby has a high melanin absorption properties making it suitable for pale skin. Because it has high melanin absorption, if used on dark skin can leave it discoloured. 2. YAG Laser: This type of laser is best for dark skinned people because it has week melanin absorption properties. Since this type of laser targets very concentrated melanin, it is not suitable for fair skin. 3. Alexandrite Laser: What sets alexandrite laser apart from others is the repetition rate making it useful for doing large areas quickly. Though it has long wave length, it still has high melanin absorption properties so it should be used carefully else it will cause skin discolouration. 4. Diode Laser: It emits light of both long and short wavelengths. This type of laser was designed for fair to medium skin types and has good melanin absorption properties. 5. IPL Hair Removal: IPL also called as intense pulsed light is not laser, it is popular because it is cheaper. IPL produces a broad spectrum of light and only some of them are effective in hair removal. They also don't penetrate deeply like laser. Laser Hair Removal Treatment: Laser hair removal treatment is a three step process of cleaning, shaving and scanning and depending on the area and thickness of the hair, a person needs multiple sittings. With each sitting, 15 to 20 % of the hair follicle gets permanently damaged and stops producing any more hair. The treatment is spaced between 4 to 8 weeks depending on the area treated. After the treatment, the treated hair usually sheds within 2 weeks and there will not be any new hair growth. Pre Laser Hair Removal Treatment Care: No natural or artificial tanning should be done 2 to 3 weeks prior to laser treatment. The use of sunscreen with higher SPF is a must before and after the treatment to prevent sunburns. Do not take any photosensitive drugs 24 hours prior to the treatment. Use of exfoliating creams and lotions that are harsh on the skin should be avoided. On the day of the treatment, perfumes, deodorants and makeup should not used on the area that is to be treated. Post Laser Hair Removal Treatment Care: Immediately after the treatment there will be some swelling and redness around the hair follicles almost like sunburn. Usually aloe vera gel that is free of color and perfume is recommended for it. You might experience the smell of burned hair during and after the treatment which is normal. Using sunscreen is a must during the entire course of the treatment. Avoid strenuous sport activities and external heat like hot water and sauna treatment for at least 3 days after the treatment and avoid sunbathing. If underarms were treated, don't use deodorants and also don't use any makeup and perfume. Don't use any scrubs or exfoliating products that might irritate the skin for the next few days. If infection sets in or there is blistering, contact your clinic immediately. Laser Hair Removal Cost: Laser hair removal costs around 3000 to 4000 rupees in India per sitting and this might vary from clinic to clinic. The cost depends on variety of factors like the density of the hair as more the dense the hair, the more number of session will be required, area of the treatment (larger the area, more number of sessions will be required) and it also varies according to the popularity of the clinic. Best Places For Laser Hair Removal: There are many skin clinics that offer laser hair removal treatment in India. Always read the reviews of the clinic and visit them before hand and talk to them about any concerns you have about laser hair removal before doing the treatment. Most of the side effects mentioned can be easily prevented if you do the treatment in a good skin clinic. You can also read the study that proves that there are very few side effects of laser hair removal here.

10 TOP BENEFITS & SIDE EFFECTS OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL:

BENEFITS OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL:

1. Laser Hair Removal Is Permanent:

Laser removes the hair permanently and though in certain cases, it can grow back, it is mostly permanent. Even if the hair grows back, it is usually thin compared to before. If you don't have the time and patience to remove unwanted hair by yourself or by visiting a beauty salon every 15 days then you can consider laser hair removal.

2. Laser Hair Removal Pains Less:

When compared to normal hair removal techniques like waxing and epilators, it pains less. Waxing is painful and epilators are even more painful as we are pulling the hair one by one. During the laser treatment, there is little pain compared to other methods. The pain is almost similar to rubber band snapping but try to stick to your schedule that you were advised else the pain will increase each time you delay.

3. For All Parts Of Body:

Another benefit of laser is it can be used to remove unwanted hair from all parts of the body easily and permanently. We all know how difficult it can be to wax or use epilator on certain parts of the body. But please remember that the results will be varied, you might have more success in one part of your body, meaning the hair might not grow back at all than other part of your body. The result will mostly depend on the color and thickness of the hair in that area.

4. For Smooth Skin:

After laser treatment, the skin will be smooth which is a big plus and you also won't suffer from ingrown hair. I love waxing because my skin feels smooth after using it when compared to shaving and using epilators. But waxing is messy if done at home and is getting expensive when done in beauty salons. We also have to wait for certain amount of time for the hair to grow before waxing again. So if you are a person who wants to have smooth skin always then laser hair removal will be a good option.

5. It Is Cheap On The Long Run & Quick:

Though initially the cost of laser hair removal treatments might seem expensive, when we compare it to the cost of waxing which is the best alternative if you want smooth skin, it will work out cheap. Waxing done at beauty salons are getting expensive day by day and it is also painful and takes considerable amount of time. Laser is also quick, laser treatments can last anywhere between 3 to 10 minutes.

SIDE EFFECTS OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL:

6. It Can Cause Burns:

Now laser hair removal has come a long way and there are very low incidents of burns but still if done incorrectly or used a laser treatment for wrong type of skin, it can cause burns. Usually burns are caused only in dark skin as it absorbs the laser light more readily.

7. Laser Can Cause Pigmentation:

Pigmentation is also an other side effect that can happen if the treatment is done incorrectly or if we don't follow the after care procedures. It can lead either to hypo pigmentation or hyper pigmentation depending on the effect it has on melanin.

8. Can Lead To Infections:

Some inflammation and redness after laser hair removal treatment is common and usually the inflammation subsides within a day or two of applying topical creams or pure aloe vera gel. But in certain rare cases, it can lead to infections, if so consult the clinic immediately without any delay.

9. Can Cause Crusting:

Another side effect of laser hair removal is crusting which usually happens when an area is over treated with laser. But it should go away shortly if we follow all the after care tips mentioned. Don't scratch the area and apply pure aloe vera gel regularly. But if any infection sets in, immediately visit the clinic.

10. Can Cause Redness & Swelling:

Certain redness, swelling, itching and numbness is very common after doing laser treatment. Try not to scratch the skin and always apply the cream recommended for you. But if the conditions continues even after a few days after the treatment, consult your clinic without fail.

8 Serious Side Effects Of Turmeric We Should Know !

Turmeric is one of the top most spices used in India. There is not a day that I have not used turmeric, we use it extensively in cooking, remedies and also for skin care. Now turmeric is one of the most popular ingredients used all around the world medicinally. Like with any ingredient, it is best to get to know both the benefits and side effects of turmeric. Using turmeric in small quantities like in curries will not have any side effects but if you are planning to take it in large doses daily for medicinal purposes then you should get to know the side effects too. The botanical name of turmeric is Curcuma Longa, it belongs to the family Zingiberaceae. Turmeric is called Manjal in Tamil, Haldi in Hindi, Halad in Marathi, Pasupu in Telugu, Arisina in Kannada, Haridra in Sanskrit, Haluda in Bengali and Haladar in Punjabi. Turmeric Chemical Constituents: Lot of chemical constituents have been isolated from turmeric primarily phenolic compounds and terpenoids which includes diarylheptanoid ( including the most commonly occurring curcuminoids), diarylpentanoids, diterpenes, sterols, alkaloids, monoterpenes and triterpenoids. Turmeric Toxicity: Since turmeric has a long usage, it has been proven through hundreds of years of usage that it is very safe to be used as a spice in cooking but now lots of research has been done to prove that even turmeric supplements have very low toxicity. Healthy volunteers were given doses ranging from 500 mg to almost 12000 mg! Out of the 74 participants, only 7 people experienced mild side effects and you can read the study here. Turmeric Drug Interactions: Turmeric slows blood clotting so it might interact with anti coagulant medicines like aspirin, clopidogrel, etc. It can also lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels so practice caution if you are on blood pressure or diabetic medications. Turmeric General Recommended Dosage: The general recommended dose for turmeric powder is 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per day. If you are using turmeric tincture, the general recommended dosage is around 15 to 25 drops 3 to 4 times per day. If you are taking turmeric capsules, 500 mg is the general suggested dosage. If you are taking turmeric tea, take 1 cup a day. Although turmeric has low toxicity, please remember that taking high doses in the form of turmeric supplements for long duration's of time should be done with caution. This is especially important if you are on any medications.....

8 SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS OF TURMERIC WE SHOULD KNOW!

1. Can Cause Stomach Issues:

Turmeric if consumed in large doses might causes stomach related problems for some people. Some people might experience nausea, diarrhea or heartburn. If you are suffering from acidity or GERD, try not to take large doses of turmeric in empty stomach as it might aggravate these problems. I would suggest starting with low dosage and then increasing it overtime to help the body adjust to the dosage of turmeric.

2. Lower Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar Levels:

Turmeric has blood pressure and blood sugar lowering properties so if you are on blood pressure or blood sugar lowering medications, taking large doses of turmeric can lower both blood pressure and blood sugar levels significantly so please practice caution. I would suggest monitoring your blood pressure and blood sugar levels closely if you decide to take turmeric supplement on a daily basis.

3. Turmeric Allergy:

Though rare, some people might be allergic to turmeric. Usually people who are allergic to turmeric experience itching and rashes while applying it externally or when taken internally. If you are experiencing skin allergy after applying turmeric, don't conclude you are allergic to turmeric right away. Try using organic turmeric powder or better still homemade turmeric powder and see whether it agrees with you. If the symptoms still persists stop using turmeric.

4. Increased Bleeding Risk:

Another lesser known side effect of turmeric when taken as a supplement is it increases the risk of bleeding. Turmeric prevents blood clotting so if you are on anti coagulant medications, please be very very careful of taking turmeric supplements as it increases the chances of bleeding. Some people have reported frequent nose bleeds when consuming turmeric and anti coagulant medications together. Large doses of turmeric can also lead to increased menstrual flow.

6. Turmeric During Pregnancy:

It is fine to consume turmeric as a spice used in day to day cooking during pregnancy but please don't take it separately as a supplement. In fact, we should be careful of taking large doses of any ingredient during pregnancy. Though I couldn't find any research to support this claim, taking large doses of turmeric during pregnancy is claimed to induce uterine contractions so stay on the safe side and don't take turmeric in large doses.

7. Turmeric And Gall Stones:

Gall bladder contracts to release bile in the intestines thus helping with the digestion. Turmeric helps prevent gall stones as it helps increase gall bladder contractions which in turn prevents gall stone formation. So if you are prone to getting gall bladder stones, consuming turmeric will greatly help. But if you already have gall bladder stones consuming turmeric will result in more pain due to the high frequency of contractions, so avoid it when you have gall bladder stones.

8. Turmeric And Skin Problems:

Turmeric is one of the best ingredients to use for our skin and here in our village we use it extensively for skin care. We all know that turmeric stains our skin but not many of us know that turmeric can increase skin sensitivity in some people resulting in skin darkening. In my personal experience very very people experience this, if you experience this problem, try to use turmeric skin care products in the night instead of in the morning. Also turmeric might cause skin dryness if used alone so always use it along with skin conditioning ingredients like milk or yogurt.

But salt water has other amazing uses other than relieving sore throat. What is salt water gargle? For those of you who don't know, salt water gargle is the act of gargling our mouth with warm water in which salt is dissolved. How does salt water gargle work? Salt water gargle works by a process called osmosis. Osmosis is a process in which the solvent moves from an area of higher concentration to lower concentration to create an area of equilibrium. When we gargle with salt water, salt moves into the inflamed tissues by the process of osmosis and draws out moisture from the swollen and inflamed tissues. Since salt has anti bacterial properties, it kills some of the bacteria and helps flush out the toxins effectively. When we gargle with salt water, the salt makes the area not hospitable for the bacteria to thrive and since it also reduces inflammation, it helps reduces the pain significantly too. How To Do Salt Water Gargle? To do salt water gargle, mix 1 tsp of sea salt in a cup of warm water and stir to dissolve it completely. Now take a big sip, tilt your head back and gargle for 15 to 30 seconds. When you are gargling, little bit of the water might go into the stomach which is normal. Spit it out after 30 seconds and repeat the process till you have used up the rest of the salt water. If anyone of us suffer from sore throat at home, my grandma used to make us do salt water gargle three times a day so I would suggest the same too. Applying clove essential oil also called as lavang oil in Hindi is one of the most popular remedies for tooth pain. Cloves are actually the flower buds of a tree whose botanical name is Syzygium Aromaticum. Cloves are native to Indonesia but now it is grown in many countries including India. I have always wanted to grow clove tree in our farm and I even planted one few months back. But due to the severe drought we are facing now, it just died last week which really upset me. Clove is one spice that I always stock in my pantry as I use it always to season the curries and rice. Now lately I stock up clove essential oil too to use in remedies as it has wonderful medicinal properties. For treating toothache, I use clove essential oil as such or use it along with pounded cloves for making mouth wash. Clove based mouth washes are not only effective for treating toothache, it also treats tooth decay, tooth cavity, gum diseases, gum pain and tooth infection. Eugenol is the main bio active compound of clove that is found in very high concentrations, almost 89% of clove essential oil contains eugenol. Three types of essential oils are distilled from clove tree - clove bud essential oil, clove leaf oil and clove stem oil. Out of these three, clove bud essential oil is the most widely used and I would suggest using it for toothache. The reason clove essential oil is wonderful for treating tooth pain is because it has powerful analgesic, antimicrobial and anti inflammatory properties. It not only helps reduce the pain and inflammation, it also helps treat the infection very effectively. Another interesting fact about clove oil is it is a very effective anesthetic. It is so effective that it can effectively replace the traditional gel benzocaine used for reducing the pain before needle insertion or tooth extraction. You can read the study that proves it here. Clove Essential Oil Side Effects: Eugenol present in clove essential oil should not be ingested in large doses, it can be rapidly absorbed and enter our blood stream. Eugenol is prooxidant in large doses! If we use clove essential oil repeatedly often in large doses, it can cause intense irritation and some times can lead to tissue burns too. Try not to swallow clove essential oil and make sure to use just a tiny drop of clove oil on the affected teeth. Pregnant women should not use this remedy. Where to buy clove essential oil for treating toothache? You can easily order clove essential oil online. While buying make sure it says clove essential oil and not clove oil as clove oil is just an infusion which can be easily made at home like given below...

3 TOP WAYS TO USE CLOVE ESSENTIAL OIL FOR TOOTHACHE:

1. How To Make Clove Oil For Toothache?

You can make your own clove oil at home by pounding 3 small cloves to fine pieces and then adding it to 1 tbsp of coconut oil or olive oil and heating it under sunlight. Once warmed up, strain to get clove oil. Dip a piece of cotton in this oil and use it as a compress on the affected teeth but it is not as effective as clove essential oil.

2. Clove Essential Oil For Toothache:

Clove essential oil is really wonderful in bringing the inflammation and pain. To use, just take tiny bit of clove essential oil using a earbud and place it on the affected area. Use only a tiny drop, just enough to wet the earbud. After applying wait for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing your mouth. You can also mix 3 drops of clove essential oil in 1 tbsp coconut oil, dip a cotton and use it as a compress on the affected tooth too.

3. Clove Essential Oil Gargle:

Pound 2 cloves in a mortar and pestle to break them and then boil them in a cup of water till the water changes color and reduces a little. Add 2 drops of clove essential oil and mix well. Strain and use the water as a gargle for treating toothache and gum related problems.

Though it is bad for anyone to cut calories drastically, it is especially worse when done after delivery. We lose lot of muscle not body fat when we cut calories drastically and breast milk also will reduce considerably. Stress is also an another factor, when we are stressed, the stress hormone cortisol will be elevated which will hinder fat loss. So try your best to keep your self relaxed and catch up on the lost sleep whenever your baby is sleeping. Try to eat nutritious home cooked food along with the garlic soup I have mentioned below, try to reduce your stress levels by resting whenever you can and do the exercises I have mentioned daily and you will start seeing results soon. After delivery, my doctor taught me the exercises mentioned below and they helped me a lot to get back to my original shape.  10 TOP EXERCISES & TIPS TO REDUCE BELLY FAT AFTER PREGNANCY:

1. BREAST FEEDING:

Breast feeding is not only good for the baby, it is good for reducing belly fat too. Breast feeding helps shrink our uterus and greatly helps reduce belly fat. It also burns 400 to 500 calories per day which is a huge plus. Try to breast feed for at least a year, it will benefit both the baby and yourself. You can find remedies to increase breast milk here.

2. GARLIC SOUP:

My mom used to give me garlic soup every day after delivery. It helps increase breast milk and also reduces belly fat. To make garlic soup, pound 1/4 tsp each of cumin seeds and black pepper corns coarsely in a mortar and pestle. Now heat 1/4 tsp of unrefined sesame oil in a pan. Add finely cut garlic to the pan and fry for few seconds. Now add the pounded cumin and black pepper and fry for few seconds. Finely add a cup of boiled toor dhal water got by boiling 1 tbsp of toor dhal with 1 cup of water and 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder till mushy. Boil for 5 minutes with required amount of salt and switch off.

3. POSTPARTUM BELLY WRAP:

Generally after child birth, we apply herbal warps followed by a gentle massage to tone the stomach muscles. For the herbal wrap, boil a liter of water with herbs of your choice for 5 minutes till the water is infused with the herbs and strain. Use herbs that heal, stimulate and cleanse. I have used ginger and lemon grass pounded well together. To use, dip a tick cotton cloth in the herb infused water, squeeze out excess and place it on the stomach for 15 minutes or till the cloth looses it's heat.

4. MASSAGE:

Massaging with pure plant based oils, helps reduce belly fat very fast. It is especially useful, if done after applying the belly wrap. Generally we use unrefined oils like sesame oil or coconut oil for massage but I like to mix equal quantities of virgin coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil along with the contents of 1 vitamin e oil mixed together for massage. Try to do the belly wrap followed by the massage at least weekly twice or thrice for best results.

5. RELAX:

I know it will be hard to relax with a new born baby. In our village it is a custom to visit the newborn baby so we will be having visitors throughout the day for the first few months which makes it extremely hard to get some time to ourselves. But I made sure to spend some time for myself, everyday evening I used to take a short walk around the farm. This relaxed me and kept me energized the rest of the day. Even if it is for 15 minutes, take some time for yourself and do the thing you love, it will help you relax.

6. EAT HOME COOKED NUTRITIOUS MEALS:

This is very very important if you want to lose belly fat and also breast feed your child. Eating fresh home cooked meals will ensure that you get all the nutrients while breast feeding and this will go a long way in preventing many problems like hair fall which many women face after delivery. Usually home cooked meals are low in fat and high in fiber and nutrients so it will keep us satiated for a long time. Try your best not to eat prepackaged foods and highly processed foods at all.

EXERCISES:
These were the three exercises my doctor taught me to firm and lose belly fat quickly. My friend agreed to demonstrate the exercises for me :). Though I have given a certain number of sets to do for each exercise, start with the number of repetitions you are comfortable with...

7. LEG RAISES:

Lie on your back with your legs straight and together. Now slowly lift the legs together as much as you can. Hold for few seconds and then slowly bring the legs back to the ground. Do three sets of five.

8. CRUNCHES:

Lie flat and place your hands behind the head. Now slowly curl forward, hold for few seconds and come back to the original position. When doing crunches, never pull your neck forward. Try to do three sets of ten.

9. PLANK:

To do plank, get into push up position. Bend your elbows 90 degrees and rest your weight on your forearms. The elbows should be beneath the shoulders and the body should form a straight line. Hold this position as long as you can. Do it three times.

10. TAKING IN THE STOMACH WHILE BREAST FEEDING:

This is an another tip from my grandma, she used to regularly advice me to take in my stomach while feeding. Taking in our stomach helps strengthen the stomach muscles and if we do it each time we feed our baby, it will greatly help strengthen the stomach muscles and help us lose belly fat...

The first is the water in which the rice was used to soak before cooking. It is also called rice water and it will be slightly cloudy as rice releases little bit of it's starch in it. The second is boiled rice water got when we drain the water after the rice is cooked. I prefer the boiled rice water as it is more creamy and thicker. Rice Water Nutrients: The important bio active compounds found in rice bran are called ferulic acid, gamma-oryzanol, allantoin and phytic acid. They are wonderful antioxidants and have been used in many skin creams to prevent skin ageing and to repair damaged skin. They also have anti inflammatory properties. Rice water has these amazing skin benefits especially if we use it as a face wash daily:1. Lightens Dark Spots: If you are looking for natural ways to lighten dark spots then rice water will greatly help. To lighten dark spots, mix rice water with gram flour and use it as a face wash. 2. Treats Acne: Since rice water has anti inflammatory properties  it helps reduce the inflammation greatly. If you are suffering from acne, you can just wash your face with rice water and neem mix daily. 3. Soothes Sunburn: Rice water is very very soothing on the skin and is especially great for sunburned skin. You can just apply plain rice water on the face and then wash it off. 4. Lightens Scars: Since rice water has skin lightening properties, it lightens all scars well. Though it takes regular daily use to see results, you will definitely see results if you use it daily. 5. Prevents Skin Dryness: Many commercial face washes dry out our skin as they are loaded with chemicals and preservatives but rice water is hydrating and is great to use for dry skin. 6. Cleans The Skin Well: Try using rice water as a face wash once and you will be surprised how effectively it cleans the skin. It removes grime, dirt and excessive oiliness well especially if used along with ingredients like gram flour or green gram flour. 7. Evens Out The Skin Tone: Since it helps heal scars and reduce break outs, it greatly helps even out the skin tone very effectively. I would suggest using the turmeric, gram flour and rice water mix as it evens out the skin tone well. 8. Prevents Blackheads: If we use rice water face wash daily, it removes excessive oiliness which is the leading cause of blackheads thus greatly preventing blackheads. 9. Repairs Damaged Skin: Rice water is very very healing and helps heal even the most damaged skin very quickly. I would suggest using it as a face wash along with Castile soap like given below. 10. Makes The Skin Glow: Washing with rice water evens out the skin tone, reduces blemishes and literally makes it glow. I have given different rice water face wash recipes I have tried over the years below, choose the one you like and use regularly......

Wart is a very common and harmless skin condition that affects many people. Though you can remove it surgically, there are wonderful herbs and home remedies to treat warts easily. Here in our village, we use a herb called amman pacharisi to treat warts. We apply the milky sap of the plant on the wart till it falls off. What Are Warts? Warts refers to small, hard growths in the skin consisting of dead skin cells. We get warts when viruses, mostly the human papilloma type affect our skin. They are usually painless and harmless but can be unsightly. But plantar wart which refers to the warts that appear on our feet can be painful when we walk as the weight of body presses it inwards. Warts have a rough surface and can be either lighter or darker in color. Types Of Warts? Warts are called by different names depending on the area it is found. Warts can appear on the fingers (common warts), scalp, face, thighs, arms (flat warts) elbows, knees, genitals (genital warts are caused by a different type of virus which is more serious than other warts), around mouth (filiform wart), under finger and toenails (periungal wart) and on feet (plantar wart). Warts that appear on the scalp and on our feet can be problematic as they sometimes bleed when we comb our hair or walk. Warts Conventional Treatment: Conventional treatment includes applying ointments, burning with chemicals, using liquid nitrogen and cauterizing with an electric needle. If you are planning on using liquid nitrogen, please talk to your doctor about side effects as it does not agree with everyone. If you are considering homeopathy, thuja pills are very famous for treating warts, consult a homeopathic doctor before consuming them. Warts Prevention: If you tend to get plantar warts, wear sandals when you visit common places like swimming pool and spas as they spread faster in moist floors. Warts usually develops when our immunity is very low so try to improve your immunity by eating healthy, improving your intake of vitamin C rich foods and getting plenty of rest. Also consider taking multivitamin after consulting with your doctor to improve immunity. Stress also can contribute to warts as it lowers our immunity so try your best to keep your self relaxed and happy to prevent warts. We get loads of under eye dark circle removal creams in India but you will be amazed to know that you can easily make your own at home too. The skin around our eyes are so delicate that even minute changes in our lifestyle affects it leading to dark circles. The skin around our eyes are 4 times thinner than the rest of our skin so we should take great care of it else it will lead to dark circles very quickly. Some of the common reasons for getting dark circles are lack of sleep, stress, excessive sun exposure, allergies, dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, ageing, drinking, smoking and genetics. I get dark circles whenever I am stressed, few weeks back my son had dengue fever and it stressed me out completely. His blood pressure and platelet count kept plummeting though he didn't have fever and till the platelet count started the uptrend I was always tensed. I was surprised how just a few stressful days affected my skin, I had slight dark circles around my eyes and my skin looked shallow and lifeless. Once my son got back to his normal self, my stress levels came down and I started using this homemade eye cream regularly at night to help fade dark circles. It helped so much and within a few days my skin was back to normal. Usually I make under eye creams with aloe vera gel, vitamin e oil and an extract. I change up the extract depending on what I have at home, I use either cucumber extract, green tea or rice water. Aloe vera gel is one of the best things to use on the delicate under eye skin as it is very soothing and nourishing. Vitamin e oil fades dark circles so well and all the three extracts (cucumber, rice water and green tea) added to the cream, greatly helps fades dark circles and also helps nourish the skin as they are full of antioxidants. I usually make a small batch and leave it in the refrigerator and it lasts for around 10 days. Make sure to use the eye cream every day night after removing all make up if you want to get rid of dark circles quickly. Also along with applying this cream, try to reduce stress, eat healthy and sleep well to see fast results....

Wheatgrass is gaining in popularity day by day due to it's amazing health benefits and medicinal uses. It is rightly called "Green Blood" because it is full of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that is essential for our well being. What Is Wheatgrass? Wheatgrass refers to the young freshly sprouted leaves of our common wheat plant whose botanical name is Triticum Aestivum. Wheatgrass is called "கோதுமை புல்" in Tamil, "Genhu Ke Jaware ka Ras" in Hindi and "Godhuma Gaddi" in Telugu. I first came to know about consuming wheatgrass through one of my relatives, she is used to grow wheatgrass at home and consume wheatgrass juice regularly. She was also the one who made me aware of it's amazing health benefits. Wheatgrass Nutrients: One of the important ingredients that wheatgrass is rich in is chlorophyll which accounts for almost 70 %. Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants that gives the plant it's green color and which also helps absorb light energy needed for photosynthesis. Along with chlorophyll, wheatgrass is rich in minerals, vitamins, amino acids and enzymes. Wheatgrass is rich in vitamins and minerals like ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid, vitamin E, carotene, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, sodium, zinc and copper. The important amino acids present in wheatgrass are aspartic acid, threonine, serine, asparagine, glutamine, proline, glycine, alanin, methionine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, lysine, histidine, tryptophan and arginine. Some of the enzymes present are protease, amylase, lipase, cytochrome-oxidase, transhydrogenase, etc. How To Consume Wheatgrass? We get wheatgrass in different forms like wheatgrass powder, wheatgrass capsules, freeze dried wheatgrass, pills and tablets in the markets. Though you can take wheatgrass in any form, I would suggest consuming fresh wheatgrass juice as it retains the maximum nutrients or buy freeze dried wheatgrass as it is not exposed to heat. You can easily grow wheatgrass at home, you don't need much space for it too. How To Grow Wheatgrass? Take about 1/2 cup of organic wheat and soak them in 1 cup of water overnight. The next day, rinse out the water and now take the soaked wheat grains in a thin muslin cloth. Tie into a bundle and leave it aside for 24 hours to let it sprout. Once it has sprouted, it is time to plant them. To plant, take potting mix in a shallow, wide pot and dampen it. Sprinkle the wheat sprouts, now cover the top with soil too. Sprinkle with some more water, cover with a thin cloth and leave it in the balcony. Sprinkle water the next three days over the cloth. Once you see green sprouts, remove the cloth but make sure to water them daily. Once the wheatgrass reach a height of about 5 to 6 inches, it is ready to be cut for juicing. Where To Buy Wheatgrass? In India, we get fresh wheatgrass in some super markets but it is quite expensive so I would suggest growing your own if you plan to consume regularly. You can get wheatgrass powders, capsules and tablets easily in the markets. When buying make sure to buy from reputed brands and also make sure it is certified organic. Wheatgrass Dosage: If you are taking wheatgrass powder, mix 1 tsp of wheatgrass powder in a cup of water and drink. If you are taking fresh wheatgrass juice also called as wheatgrass shots, take around 120ml. You can easily make wheat grass shots by grinding a handful of fresh grass with water in a mixer and straining but make sure to drink it immediately. You can sweeten with honey if you prefer. If consuming wheatgrass capsules, the suggested dosage is 1 capsule with meals. Pregnant women can consume wheatgrass but make sure to make your own wheatgrass juice at home and it is also best to consume it after consulting with your doctor. Wheatgrass Side Effects: Some people might be allergic to wheatgrass. Generally, wheatgrass if consumed in the normal amounts will not cause any side effects. But if you overdose on wheatgrass, it will cause diarrhea......

I wanted to share three of my favorite natural eyelash growth serums that I use regularly. We all want long and thick eyelashes and some of us are naturally blessed with thick eyelashes. But if you are a person who has got scanty eyelashes, please don't worry, there are wonderful remedies to thicken the eyelashes and these eyelash serums are the best. We get plenty of eyelash growth serums in India but they are really expensive and some people might be allergic to the ingredients in them too. The best answer is to make your own homemade natural eyelash serums. Usually natural eyelash serums are made with castor oil as a base but I prefer herbal extracts as serums made with herbal extracts are more lighter than castor oil based serums and they are so easy to apply on the eyelashes too. Herbal extracts are also equally effective in promoting eyelash growth like castor oil. But make sure to choose herbs that are very effective for promoting hair growth. I made three eyelash serums serum with three of the best hair growth promoting herbs. The herbs I have used are rosemary, peppermint and curry leaves. All these three herbs have amazing hair growth promoting properties and they also smell amazing. It is best to make the extracts with fresh herbs but if you don't get fresh herbs you can make the extracts with dried herbs too. These serums only differ in smell depending on the herb used but otherwise they are equally effective in promoting eyelash growth. Make the serum in small batches and use it within a week for best results. To make the serum, choose from anyone of the three herbs given and make an extract out of it. Then mix the extract with fresh aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil and mix well. Both vitamin E and aloe vera gel are very safe to use on eyelashes and they help in eyelash growth too. This serum if refrigerated will last well for about 7 to 10 days and if you use them everyday, you will experience amazing eyelash growth very quickly...

3 BEST NATURAL EYELASH GROWTH SERUM RECIPES:

1. ROSEMARY EYELASH  GROWTH SERUM:

Rosemary has amazing hair growth promoting properties. It was the first herb I tried and my most favorite as it smells amazing. Actually the serum made with rosemary is equally effective like castor oil in promoting eyelash growth. Here in India, some department stores stock fresh rosemary. If you don't get fresh rosemary, you can use dried rosemary too. To make rosemary extract, first take 1/2 cup of water in a pot. Add a small bunch of fresh rosemary to it and start boiling. Let it boil till the color of the water changes and the water reduces in half. This will take approximately about 6 to 7 minutes. Once it reduces in half, switch off and strain.

2. PEPPERMINT EYELASH GROWTH SERUM:

Peppermint is an other herb that is amazing for promoting hair growth. Some nurseries here in India stock fresh peppermint plants. To make peppermint extract, first take 1/2 cup of water in a pot. Add a handful of fresh peppermint leaves to it and start boiling. Let it boil till the color of the water changes and the water reduces in half. Once it reduces in half, switch off, strain and let cool completely.

3. CURRY LEAVES EYELASH GROWTH SERUM:

All of us know that curry leaves are excellent for promoting hair growth and it can be used for promoting eyelash growth too. Actually you will be amazed how effective it is! It also smells nice. To make curry leaf extract, bruise 1/4 cup of curry leaves in a mortar and pestle. This helps it release its essence into the water faster. Now boil them in 1/2 cup of water till the water reduces to 1/4 cup. Switch off, strain and let cool completely.

DIY: HOW TO MAKE EYELASH GROWTH SERUM:

1. To make the serum, take 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel that is free of color and perfume in a bowl. Though I have used store bought aloe vera gel, you can use fresh aloe vera gel too. I have tried both but I find using store-bought gel gives the perfect consistency. Fresh aloe vera gel makes the serum too runny.

2. Now add in quarter cup of your desired extract little by little.

3. Once the extract is mixed well into the aloe vera gel, break open one vitamin E capsule and add the contents. Once you add the contents of the vitamin E capsule, the serum will turn slightly glossy. Mix thoroughly and your serum is ready!

4. Now take an old mascara bottle, wash and sun dry it well. I have taken the serum in a medicine dispenser which was a gift when my son was a child. I rarely used it, now I just use it to fill in small mouthed bottles like this with serums and oils.

5. Once it's filled, cap it tightly and keep it refrigerated. If kept refrigerated, it'll last well for about two weeks by which time it will get over. To use, before going to bed every day night, remove all makeup and then apply this serum on the eyelashes. Leave it overnight. You will start seeing visible results with 2 to 3 weeks of regular usage.

NOTES:
  •  Make sure to usealoe vera gel that is free of color and perfume for best results.
  • Try to use fresh herbs forbest results.
  • Don't forget to keep the eyelash serum refrigerated.
  • Try using it everyday to see fast results.

If there is truly a miracle juice that gives us glowing skin and hair and treats many health problems, it is wheatgrass juice also called as wheatgrass shots. It is the juice got when we grind the grass of our common wheat whose botanical name is Triticum Aestivum. Since wheatgrass juice has many health benefits and is packed full of nutrients, it is rightly called the "Green Blood". Wheatgrass juice is called "கோதுமை புல் ஜூஸ்" in Tamil, "Genhu Ke Jaware ka Ras" in Hindi, "Gavankur Juice" In Marathi and "Godhuma Gaddi" in Telugu. I first came to know about consuming wheatgrass juice through one of my relatives, she is used to grow wheatgrass at home and consume wheatgrass juice regularly. She was also the one who made me aware of it's amazing health benefits. Wheatgrass Juice Nutrients: One of the important ingredients that wheatgrass juice is rich in is chlorophyll which accounts for almost 70 %. Along with chlorophyll, wheatgrass juice is rich in minerals, vitamins, amino acids and enzymes. Wheatgrass juice is rich in vitamins and minerals like ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid, vitamin E, carotene, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, sodium, zinc and copper. A cup of wheatgrass juice has only 20 calories. Wheatgrass juice Benefits: 1. Since wheatgrass  is rich in antioxidants, it prevents free radical damage which is usually the cause of premature ageing of the skin. Since it has anti bacterial and soothing properties, it treats many skin ailments including acne, psoriasis and eczema. You can apply fresh wheatgrass juice mixed with little honey as a face pack to keep the skin glowing and youthful.4.Wheatgrass juice For Treating Diseases: Wheat grass juice treats many diseases, it treats ulcers as it has anti ulcer properties. It is a good remedy for constipation and piles as it reduces inflammation and eases bowel movements. Since wheatgrass detoxifies our body and purifies our blood, people who are suffering from kidney disease and liver diseases can consume wheatgrass juice everyday. But I would kindly suggest consuming wheatgrass juice after consulting with your physician especially if you are on any medication for treating kidney or liver problems. It also has anti cancer properties. Wheatgrass Juice Dosage: Usually a cup of wheatgrass juice is the suggested amount, I usually consume one cup of fresh wheatgrass a day. Pregnant women can consume wheatgrass juice but make sure to make your own wheatgrass juice at home and it is also best to consume it after consulting with your doctor. Wheatgrass Side Effects: Some people might be allergic to wheatgrass. Generally, wheatgrass juice if consumed in the normal amounts will not cause any side effects. Wheatgrass refers to the young freshly sprouted leaves of our common wheat plant whose botanical name is Triticum Aestivum. The grass is either juiced fresh or the dried grass powder is mixed with water and drunk as it has amazing health benefits. It is also packed with nutrients and you can read about all the health benefits here. Wheatgrass juice is called "கோதுமை புல் ஜூஸ் " in Tamil, "Genhu Ke Jaware ka Ras" in Hindi, "Gavankur Juice" In Marathi and "Godhuma Gaddi" in Telugu. Although wheatgrass has amazing health benefits, there are few things we should keep in mind while consuming wheat grass juice to prevent side effects. The first thing we should be careful is overdosing, usually the suggested dosage for wheatgrass juice is around 40 ml to 120 ml per day If you are taking wheatgrass powder, mix 1 tsp of wheatgrass powder in a cup of water and drink. If consuming wheatgrass capsules, the suggested dosage is 1 capsule with meals. I would strongly suggest slowly increasing the quantity so your body gets used to it. If you overdose on wheatgrass juice, you will experience certain side effects which I have given below. The second important thing while consuming wheatgrass juice is to try your best to make it at home. Wheatgrass juice contamination is also one of the main reasons certain people experience side effects while consuming wheatgrass juice. Try you best to grow your own wheatgrass, it is so easy, all you need are few old containers and wheat. Make the juice out of freshly cut, washed grass and drink it in the suggested dosage and you will not experience any side effects at all.....

7 SIDE EFFECTS OF WHEATGRASS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OFF:

1. Wheatgrass Allergy:

Some people might be allergic to wheatgrass. Though it is one of the best natural super foods, please remember that it might not agree with everyone. Many people are allergic to wheat than we realize, the allergy could be severe or moderate. Some of the common symptoms of moderate wheat allergy are small itchy red bumps in the skin, itchy mouth, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, etc. Severe allergy could lead to difficulty swallowing and breathing. Seek medical help if you you experience any of these symptoms.

2. Lowers Blood Sugar Levels:

Though this is a very good thing and this is what makes consuming wheatgrass juice amazing for diabetic patients, we should remember that diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels closely else it will reduce the blood sugar levels drastically. So please keep a very close watch while consuming both diabetic medication and wheatgrass juice. Check the sugar levels more often when you are consuming both and adjust the mediation accordingly.

3. Headaches:

Though I have not experienced it, some people experience headache while consuming wheatgrass juice. This could be due to many reasons, it could be due to overdosing or due to allergy or it could be due to the detoxification process. If it is due to allergy, you will also experience other symptoms like rashes and stomach pain, stop drinking it immediately and seek medical help if the symptoms are worse. If it is due to overdosing try reducing the dosage and if it is due to detoxification process, it should get all right within a few days on it's own.

4. Pregnant Women:

Pregnant women should be extra careful while consuming wheatgrass juice. Though wheatgrass juice is an amazing blood builder and is a wonderful antioxidant, since it is consumed raw there is a higher risk of bacterial or mold infection especially if it is store bought. If you plan to drink wheatgrass juice during pregnancy, I would suggest consulting your doctor for the correct dosage and if you decide to take it, try to make your own juice and take only the suggested dosage.

5. Drug Interactions:

Wheatgrass could interact with certain medications, it can interfere with diabetic medications and anti coagulant medications. Like I mentioned before wheatgrass juice lowers blood sugar levels and might interfere with blood sugar medication. If you are a diabetic and are planning on undergoing a surgery please mention it to your doctor without fail. Since wheatgrass is rich in vitamin K, consuming it while taking anti coagulant drugs will cause drug interactions so please practice caution.

6. Diarrhea Or Constipation:

This can vary from person to person but some people might experience diarrhea and some people might experience constipation if you overdose on wheatgrass juice. I usually experience severe diarrhea if I accidentally overdose on green juices. To be on the safer side, start with a small dosage and work your way up over the weeks. This way your body will get used to wheatgrass and you will not suffer from any side effects at all.

7. Nausea  & Vomiting:

Some people experience nausea while consuming wheatgrass juice. If you experience nausea along with other side effects like skin rashes then it could be due to wheatgrass allergy, stop drinking it immediately and seek medical help. But if you are feeling mildly nauseous, then it can be because of the grassy smell. I don't mind the grassy smell but if you can't tolerate it, mix wheatgrass juice with other juices like orange juice or apple juice and then consume. Also if you are felling nauseous after consuming wheatgrass in empty stomach, try to drink it in between meals instead of empty stomach.

10 Best Home Remedies For Treating Diaper Rash

$

Diaper rash is a very common problem in young babies but we can easily treat and prevent it with home remedies. What Is Diaper Rash? Diaper rash is skin irritation in the area where diaper is worn. Though diaper rash is common in babies, old people who wear diapers also can get diaper rash. It is also called diaper dermatitis. What Causes Diaper Rash? The most common cause for diaper rash is contact dermatitis and it can range from mild redness to severe skin peeling. Usually contact dermatitis is caused when the skin is in contact with soiled diapers for long duration's of time. The second reason is bacterial or fungal infection, diaper rash can be secondarily infected with bacteria or fungi. The third reason is allergies, some of the common allergens are perfumes present in some of the creams used for babies, even some soaps used for washing cloth diapers can cause allergies. Diaper Rash Symptoms: Some of the common symptoms of diaper rash are redness in the affected area. In some severe cases, pustules and small blisters can also form in the area and it can be accompanied by fever and swelling too. Severe diaper rash can be due to secondary infection, if the symptoms are very severe I would suggest consulting your pediatrician immediately. How To Prevent Diaper Rash: Try to change soiled diapers immediately, this one single tip alone will go a long way in preventing diaper rash. Also make sure the diapers are not too tight and if you are using cloth diapers try to wash them in mild detergents that does not have strong fragrances or color. The best natural option is to use soap nut liquid for washing the cloth diapers and sundry the cloth diapers after washing. Try to avoid baby powders that are highly fragrant as the synthetic fragrance also can irritate the delicate skin. I would also suggest not using chemical based creams instead opt for natural plant based oils like unrefined coconut oil. If you are not using cloth diapers, I would suggest giving a break and not using diapers at least for some time during the day. Also I wanted to mention about two common remedies used for treating diaper rash, one is baking soda and the other is petroleum jelly. I don't prefer them because baking soda is drying on the skin and petroleum jelly like the name mentions is a petroleum by product which is not advisable for anyone let alone babies. But if you plan on using them, please research well before using them on babies skin. If the diaper rash is not severe, you can easily treat it with anyone of the home remedies given below.....

Another ingredient that has amazing healing properties and is wonderful for treating diaper rash is bentonite clay. Traditionally we bathe the babies only using this powder instead of soap. Using herbal bath powder greatly prevents diaper rash in the first place. You can find how to make herbal bath powder here.

10.  Corn Starch For Diaper Rash:

One common thing many people do is use store bought baby powders before using the diaper to keep the area dry. This can cause more harm than good as most baby powders contain synthetic fragrances which can worsen the infection. Instead, just apply corn starch on the affected area, it will absorb excess moisture without causing any harm.

Flaxseed gel is very very soothing when applied onto the scalp as a pack and helps reduce scalp inflammations well. 5. Flaxseed oil when used as a massage oil improves blood circulation in the scalp thus promoting fast hair growth. How To Consume Flaxseed For Hair Growth? Usually nutritionists recommend consuming ground flaxseed because the ground flaxseed is easier to digest than the whole seeds. Grinding also helps break the hard seat coat which is difficult to do, if you chew the whole seeds. I have given few of the ways I consume flaxseed below. But flaxseed is very high in fiber so please don't over consume it else it'll cause stomach problems like bloating, stomach pain etc. If it does, reduce the quantity of flaxseed you're consuming and increase it slowly over time. It also interacts with blood thinner medications. Where To Buy Flaxseed & Flaxseed Oil For Hair? HOW TO CONSUME FLAXSEED FOR HAIR GROWTH:

a. To consume flaxseed, first take 1/4 cup of flaxseed and grind it in a dry mixer without adding any water to a fine powder.

b.  You can add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed to a cup of water and drink it every day. I also love to sprinkle it over dosas along with little onions and pepper, it's a great way to give it to young children.

c. Lastly I love to add ground flaxseed in smoothies. You can add it along with any plant-based milk if you're vegan along with dates and your favorite nuts to make a healthy and filling smoothie that'll nourish your hair and skin.

HOW TO MAKE FLAXSEED GEL FOR HAIR GROWTH?

a. The first way to use flax seeds for external application is to make a hair gel with it. This hair gel when applied onto the hair as a pack, nourishes and conditions the hair really well. For the gel, boil quarter cup of flax seeds in two cups of water making sure to stir often to prevent flaxseed sticking to the bottom of the pan.

b. Boil for five minutes and immediately strain through a very thin muslin cloth. Press the muslin cloth with tongs to extract the gel completely. If we let the gel thicken too much, it'll be hard to squeeze out the gel. Let the gel come to lukewarm temperature. You can also add in few drops of hair growth promoting essential oils like rosemary too. To use, apply this gel all over the scalp and hair, wait for an hour before having hair wash.
